Whistler as Host of Winter Olympics 2010

I am linking this blog to Our World Tuesday!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the month of October! I decided that this month, I will have a theme and that will be my vacation snaps at Whistler, BC.  Oh, before I forgot, the daily city photo blogs community rejected my application and the reason was my blogs/website isn't city centric. Too bad! I was torn between joining and showing photos of other places other than the City of Surrey. For me to be qualified, I should only post pictures of Surrey but because I have visited other places and I wanted them to share to my viewers/readers, I decided to just go on with my writing about Surrey and other parts of BC..so here I am..

The 2010 Winter Olympics logo was unveiled on April 23, 2005, and is named Ilanaaq the Inunnguaq. Ilanaaq is the Inuktitut word for friend. The logo was based on the Inukshuk (stone landmark or cairn) ) built for the Northwest Territories Pavilion at Expo 86 and donated to the City of Vancouver after the event. It is now used as a landmark on English Bay Beach. Wikipedia
Me at the Winter Olympics rings.. :)
According to Distance Charts, the distance between Surrey and Whistler is 154km and it will take about 2hours to reach it. It was only my 2nd week here when we visited the place (I haven't shared it before coz I was blogging different topics then). Whistler was the venue for the 2010Whistler Olympics in February (6 months before I arrived here).

Whiterock beach..a place to unwind!

The houses along White Rock beach

When I'm feeling blue
All I have to do
Is take a look at you
Then I'm not so blue
When you're close to me...

I feel soo right now. For almost 5years away from home, I always have this feeling of emptiness, loneliness and being incomplete and the only thing that help me with it is nature! A place full of green surroundings, fresh air and clear water is what I call home. I grew up in this kind of environment and wherever I go, I always look for a place like this  where I could have peace and could think of wonderful memories with wonderful people in my life.

The serenity of water always help me in releasing all the negative feelings within. I could spend a day looking at the calmness of water without getting bored so when you'll ask me where I wanna go to unwind or to have a peaceful mind, I will possibly answer you "in the forest", "somewhere with falls" or "at the beach".

I actually wanted to go to the beach right now but my dear friend named laziness visited me again. So, I just looked at my photo albums here where I went to one of my favorite places her.. the White Rock beach!

With a population of 18,250, White Rock is located in the southwest corner of the Lower Mainland, forty-five kilometres from Vancouver and only five minutes to the Canada/US border. It is an exciting seaside community clustered around an eight kilometre sandy beach and the warm shallow waters of Semiahmoo Bay.

Welcome Fall/Autumn.. A season of colors!

You just call out my name
and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don't you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,

Oops, I forgot that I was supposed to write my blog. hehe! When people say maple trees, syrups or leaves; we always think of the country Canada. The flag of this country has maple leaf too that's why many people associate maple with Canada even this tree can also be found in other countries.

Snow in winter, flowers in spring, beaches during summer and falling of leaves during autumn..I am lucky to witness all of these after a year of staying here in Canada. Tomorrow will be the first day of autumn. If flowers give colors in spring, the leaves do in autumn. This is the pictures that I took last fall (sorry about the pics because during that time, I wasn't interested in taking photos of things or other people but myself :D).

Welcome Fall! Just want you to know that you and spring are my two favorite seasons because of your weather. :)

My 27th..a special entry

A few days ago, I was very emotional.. well, I always am..but the last weeks were very different..Probably, I got this from my younger sister who has always this what we call birthday blues.. haha.. Anyways, I started my day with a smile and laughters by talking to those people who are close to my heart..and they made me feel special even we're thousand miles apart..

And to thank these people, I am writing this entry.. To start with, thanks to sis Jocelyn of Al Ain City Daily Photo for linking my blogs here .. I really appreciate it because I got hits after she posted her virtual gift to me. Thank you sis! Thanks also to those who greeted me in your website and from visitors from Kablogs and Proudly Pinoy bloggers.

Thanks to my family for making me special in every way. You are the reason why I am here right now. To my one and only for the support, loyalty, faithfulness, love and everything you're doing for me. To my former students, thank you especially to Tinay for the advance greetings, wall post and statuses for me..My PFSI family, thank you so much.. My bestfriends Joan, Romel and the rest of BRACELEPT barkada, thanks.. To my classmates and batchmates from elementary, high school and college, thank you! To all other friends from different parts of the world including those people who greeted me thru fb pages and groups, internet websites, txt messages and calls...thank you!! I maybe alone but with all of you, I feel really great and special..

I could say that this year, I celebrated my birthday differently. I went to support 2 causes here in Canada. One for the "cops for cancer" and the second one was a food drive led by Salvation Army. To appreciate and celebrate life, compare yours to those who are unfortunate. It feels great to help!

Tonight, I also had a special dinner with my employers. They took me out to dinner and yumm, we went to indian restaurant that served really delish food. Believe me, I was really full! And when we arrived home, cakes and gifts were waiting for me.

some of the gifts I received.. a 1000 pieces puzzle and 2 gift cards from Bestbuy.. :)
Our dinner at the Indian restaurant..
Can't believe, I am in my 27th year now. Can't complain.. Life is treating me good.. Age is just a number.. Besides, I still look like 10 (my height says so.. :P )

Waterfront, Canada place and Seabus to Lonsdale Quay

One summer day, a former student of mine from Manitoba was here in BC for her religious activity and she was given 2days off to roam around. Since I am living just 30minutes where she was staying, we met. I decided to bring her to North Vancouver Lonsdale Quay, Waterfront and Canada place. As  we were traveling, she mentioned to me that they don't have such kind of attractions in Manitoba because it was completely plain (my employer described it as landlocked so she advised me to bring my student to a place where she could see mountains, water and city)

Canada place- This is the venue of the big events like Canada day, Christmas and fireworks display. It says to be the place where your Canadian experience will start. The different provinces of Canada and their major cities are written on the floor (just like the Hollywood walk of fame).

This ship was another attraction at the Canada place. I don't know how many times it travels to it's destination but I've seen it twice in a month.

While in the seabus from Waterfront station to Lonsdale Quay. One of the buildings that you see here is the Londsdale Quay Market (with the big letter Q where I took the picture below)

Taken from the top of Lonsdale Q market. This is one of the perfect places to listen to bands for free, buy fresh veges, do some face painting and to relax buy just watching the peaceful water (with a perfect view of the busy Vancouver area on the other end).

And this is the waterfront  (when you go up on that stairs, you'll be in Canada place). This is one of the views that you will see at the end of Canada line skytrain station (from Surrey where I am living).

Boating and Crab catching

A friend of mine from Alberta visited BC and we went boating. It's actually my first time and couldn't explain what I felt. hehe!!Thanks to the boat owner who allowed us to use his boat for free. The crab catching was fun, though we only caught three (Others were too young and female so we threw them back to the water). The view of the land around us was also breath taking.

These are the pictures from that exciting day.

The beauty of Vancouver from the water!
